Math 2: War Addition

As Mr Brandt and I are working on addition skills, one game you can play at home is the game WAR.

In class, the first ten turns are math problems. On every flip, have your child add the two numbers flipped by writing it, by counting it (subitizing), by using fingers…whatever strategy works!

Face cards count as 10 (with K beating Q beating J beating 10) and Ace as 11.

After 10 successful additions play the game for fun. You could require your child to use different strategies for adding, do more than 10, or make it a race to add between you and your child!
