HS PE: Essential Skills Demonstration – DO NOW!

Your task is to demonstrate a sport specific skill via video to an audience of students in Grades 4-6.

Based on our co-constructed criteria: The skill should be broken down and be appropriate in an age specific manner. Every step of the skill should be detailed in a fluid manner.

For instance, a video demonstrating a layup should talk some basketball essentials (ie. head on a swivel, look around, etc to read defenders), footwork (outside, in), how we move with the ball (protect it, flick, how we let it roll off fingers), and the remainder of the follow through (up to and including landing).

Student generated examples:

  • How to bump a volleyball
  • How to shoot a bball (perfect form)
  • Hockey shot (specific type)
  • Stick handling
  • Specific dance movement (sequence)
  • Stretch and strength demo (sequence)
  • Proper run form + breathing
  • Equestrian jumping

You will be marked on the accuracy/specificity of the skill as well as the presentation of it.
