Jr Sports Performance: Static vs Dynamic Stretching

Today we did a run in cold weather. Both distance work and cold weather work require additional stretching in order to be successful. We did a dynamic stretch series (ABCDs) to get going; at the conclusion, we did a set of static stretches on our whole body.

Your assignment:

  1. Explain the difference between dynamic + static stretching. (4)
  2. Provide a minimum of two examples of each. (4)
  3. Explain why we do each of static and dynamic stretching? When should one be used over the other? Do both need to be used? (4)
