CALM 20: Tattoo or Playlist Assignment

Your Assignment:

This course is all about you. Your choices, your dreams, your goals. In order to get the most out of this course, you must first establish who you are at this moment in time and who you want to become in the future.

You may choose between one of two assignments depending on your personal tastes. In both cases, a 500 word rationale is required to consider your assignment complete.

OPTION 1 — TATTOO: for this assignment, you will create a tattoo that symbolizes who you are now and who you want to become. The tattoo may be hand drawn, rendered with computer graphics, or cobbled together through magazine cut-outs or similar. A minimum of three distinct symbols will be utilized to create your tattoo and the connections or links between them are almost as important as the choice of symbols.

OPTION 2 — PLAYLIST: for this assignment, you will create a list of a minimum of twelve (max 18) songs that represent who you are now and who you want to become in the future. The ordering of the songs matters! You could tell a narrative (start with songs about your past, go into the future) or group songs together (up-tempo, sombre, etc) … but the order matters and should be justified.

When you think about this assignment, try to include as much as possible. Include future careers and family life, your current belief system, and hobbies that you enjoy now or would like to build on. Think about why this is important to you.

Your tattoo or playlist should tell a compelling story.
